Grief as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation grappling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old presenter was accosted by three individuals, one of whom opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.
The reason behind the incident has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, police said.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a location near the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the building overseeing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," authorities stated.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but collapsed across the street.
Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the attack.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were found at the crime scene.

Officials are asking members of the public who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"Our information indicates they walked a long distance after the attack, and investigators have been tracking them to determine their whereabouts," added an official.

His family member, Nicole Stock, said the loved ones are reeling to process his death.
"I am devastated. I am shattered," she said.
"Everyone understood he was a representative for countless citizens. He was a fearless commentator about topics not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a devastating blow."
She appealed to the community to refrain from sharing explicit content from the scene, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, above all for Stock's children.
