Los Angeles Erupts in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Secure Back-to-Back World Series Victory
The City of Angels witnessed widespread celebrations after the Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-match World Series title. Fans worldwide joined local residents in celebration, marking the initial time in a quarter-century that a team has secured consecutive championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Enormous Crowds
Los Angeles area celebrations included a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and spontaneous parties across the city.
Social media videos show thousands of Angelenos packing city center avenues, many displaying homemade signs and team flags. The squad was seen riding high on a double-decker bus through the masses, raising the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the third time we’re going to achieve this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an translator.
The parade route concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the team walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and Ice Cube driving a Pacific blue classic car around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Festivities began well before the procession, with Dodgers fans lighting fireworks in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the MVP of the championship, spoke plainly about the victory.
“Losing is not an option,” Yamamoto said. “I adore this team. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
However, the team owner received a less warm welcome at the rally. Video footage from the event appear to show him taking the stage to a mix of cheers and boos, with jeers interrupting his speech.
The World Series acted as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An approximate quarter-million people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, fans this year demonstrated as much if not more support.
“It seems it’s nearly twice from last year,” he said. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
