Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”
In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, his comments indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.
During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He said such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
